If knee or hip pain is slowing you down, being stuck on a waiting list only makes things worse. Patients across the US are now choosing to travel abroad — faster access to experienced surgeons, modern hospitals, and a fraction of what it costs at home.
In the US, the combination of high costs, long wait times, and insurance gaps leaves many patients living in pain longer than they should. There's a better path.
All cost figures are estimates and vary by procedure, patient case, and destination. MyMediTour does not guarantee pricing — final quotes are provided by providers after evaluation.
From knee replacements to minimally invasive spine care, our partner hospitals cover a full range of orthopedic conditions — with surgeons who specialize in international patient care.

MyMediTour coordinates care with accredited partner hospitals in four of the world's leading medical tourism destinations — each with a strong track record in orthopedic care.
Turkey has become one of the world's top destinations for orthopedic surgery, with JCI-accredited hospitals, internationally trained surgeons, and some of the shortest scheduling windows. Our partners — including Memorial Hospital, Medical Park, and International Plus — handle thousands of international orthopedic patients each year.
Hospital Serena del Mar in Cartagena is a world-class facility that has treated thousands of international patients. Colombia offers significant cost savings compared to the US while maintaining high standards of care — with dedicated international patient departments that handle coordination end-to-end.
Clinica Biblica Hospital in San José is one of the most experienced providers for US patients seeking orthopedic care in Latin America. A 3–4 hour flight from most US cities, Costa Rica offers a convenient option for knee replacement, hip surgery, shoulder reconstruction, and arthroscopic procedures.
South Korea is recognized globally for its advanced orthopedic and regenerative medicine capabilities. For patients considering stem cell or cartilage regeneration alternatives to traditional replacement surgery, South Korea's specialists are among the most experienced in the world — particularly for knee conditions.

Many orthopedic surgeons in our partner hospitals are internationally trained — some completed fellowships or residencies in the US, UK, Germany, or France. MyMediTour only works with hospitals that meet strict quality standards, and many of our partner facilities are JCI-accredited (Joint Commission International), the same gold standard used to evaluate US hospitals. We do not work with facilities we haven't vetted.
Estimates from our partner hospitals typically include the surgeon's fee, anesthesia, operating room, hospital stay, implants (where applicable), and standard post-op care. Flights and accommodation are not included unless specifically stated in your package. Final costs depend on your case and are confirmed by the provider after evaluation — estimates are not guaranteed prices.
This is one of the most important questions to ask. Standard post-op complications (infection, wound care, follow-up imaging) can be managed by a local physician at home using your surgical records — which we help you obtain and translate where needed. For rare serious complications, most partner hospitals have telemedicine follow-up protocols. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance with medical evacuation coverage for all international procedures.
It depends on the procedure. Knee and hip replacements typically require 2–3 weeks abroad — including 3–5 days in hospital and 10–14 days of in-country recovery before you're cleared to fly. Arthroscopic procedures generally require 7–10 days. Spine surgery timelines vary by complexity. Your coordinator will walk you through the recommended timeline for your specific case before you book anything.
Most US health insurance plans do not cover elective procedures performed abroad. Some self-funded employer plans, health-sharing ministries, or supplemental travel policies may offer partial reimbursement — it's worth checking with your plan administrator. Many of our patients are uninsured or paying out-of-pocket, which is why the cost savings abroad are often significant enough to make the decision straightforward.
No. MyMediTour is a medical tourism facilitator — we coordinate your care but do not perform procedures or provide medical advice. All surgical decisions are made by licensed physicians at our partner hospitals. Our role is to guide you through the process, connect you with the right specialists, handle logistics, and make sure you're informed at every step. We do not override medical decisions made by your provider.
